Perspective

This week has definitely put things in perspective. We were on lockdown for a good part of the day here in Cambridge. Here’s hoping that the suspect is found and taken into custody. The past week has definitely forced us to think about what’s important — and how short life can be. Prayers go out to all those affected by the tragedies from this week.

Perspective can apply to other things, too — like training. Sometimes all it takes is a slight change in your perspective to change the way you look at your training, racing, or otherwise. Complaining about a bad run or minor injury? Obsessing over your missed workout from this week? Stressing over the race next week?

Yes, these things may matter a bit. But they’re not the most important things when it comes down to it. Let’s remember that — especially this week. We’re here. And able to swim, bike, and run. That’s a gift in it of itself.
