Thought for the Day: Train for the Passion

YoungTri Executive Board member Kaitlin shared this quote that she found with me today:

I train.

Not for the podium. Not for the medals. Not for the status. I train for me. For the passion. For the desire. For the knowledge that I will: learn from yesterday. Live for today…Never give up.

The above sentiment is certainly inspirational — indicative that the true glory in training does not lie in the medals or the grander accomplishments that may come with it; rather, the most satisfying part about training is learning about yourself. Learning from the past — and continually improving.

The podium isn’t everything.

It’s the small, everyday efforts that matter. Pushing your limits — fitting in an extra workout in the morning when you’re super tired; or finding time for endurance run when you’d rather be on the couch.

Why do you train?

What is your motivation? The thing(s) that push(es) you past your limits when every fiber of your being wants to break; wants to quit?

Think about it. Find your motivators. Use them… and train for the desire. Not for the glory.

envision yourself in a calm place. clear your mind. and think of what really motivates you. why do you train?

Tri Hard,

Caity
