As I was walking out of the gym the other day, I stumbled upon the following quote on the wall:
“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”
– John F. Kennedy
The quote couldn’t be more accurate and applicable to our lives as triathletes. Healthy bodies and minds go hand in hand — and it’s important to remember that.
Training does us more good than making us fit or helping us to win our age group in a race — it makes our minds stronger.
Boosting your “happy hormones”, increasing creativity, and more are other mental health benefits of exercise.
How does training help you keep your mind healthy? What does it inspire you to do outside of the triathlon world?
