Moderation is key.
I’ve learned and adhered to this principle especially lately — even though it’s always been quite difficult for me.
Like many triathletes, I have a “Type A” personality. It can be beneficial in many circumstances, but has always been a bit of a challenge for me when it has come to food. At points, I tended to either eat SUPER healthy during the day (no exceptions) or have an “off” day and eat a bit more. I can’t eat gluten or dairy, so no ice cream or chocolate for me, but you get the idea 🙂
It’s taken me awhile, but moderation has made SUCH a big difference in my life.
I allow myself to have a “cheat meal” or treat a few times a week. (I’m preparing for collegiate nationals and have been very careful about my eating 🙂 ). And I’m okay with it!
It’s all about moderation.
Let yourself have that treat once in awhile. And don’t let yourself feel guilty. You’re less likely to create a cycle of overeating if you allow yourself some indulgences once in awhile 🙂
